People Are Reading

I never thought I'd say this, but, "Thank you Tracy." You've actually inspired people to read. Now, I know you didn't mean to do that. But it has happened. By trying to keep TKR from 10th graders, you've exposed people both older and younger to this wonderful novel.

We'll Read It Now
Lift Minds Out of the Gutter

Here's a challenge for everyone:

Research books that have been banned in various places for various reasons. It's not hard to find one. Just google "banned books." Choose one, read it, and tell others about it. Let us know if you enjoyed it and learned from it. Tracy and her BFFs, don't just skim looking for "dirty" words. Actually read a book.

"Fear of corrupting the mind of the younger generation is the loftiest form of cowardice." Holbrook Jackson

It would take a genuine fool to call TKR pornography AFTER they have read it.

It would take a member of the "New Christian Taliban" to call TKR pornagraphy and filth BEFORE ever reading it.

After looking at the latest attacks on The Kite Runner in letters to the editor on-line today, I am not surprised that Lydia Daniel has stood up for the new board.

Let's see, Lydia and Warren attend Burkemont BC with Tim and Tracy. Bravo! Freedom of religion. They put the new-majority campaign signs in their yard at election time. Bravo again! Freedom of speech. She points out how ironical it is that the words of Paul cannot be read in a school, but The Kite Runner can be read. Bravo! Freedom to not know what you're talking about but saying it anyway.

Where do her kids attend school? Are they even enrolled in public school? There isn't a chance in heck of her kids even knowing about TKR if they are in a "moral, private, parochial environment".

I believe the scriptures also teach against isolating yourself from those who might not be as morally correct as you. You cannot learn and you cannot minister in the comfort of your own morality and piety. Ask Jonah.
